Jindalee Boat Ramp being upgraded !   -   05/June/04

1 year ago we posted a story of how this summer & now winter has seen a huge increase in traffic to the Jindalee boat ramp from past years, it is now common to have a couple hundred people and 50+ boats making use of the ramp, park, bbqs on the weekends.

Brisbane wakeboarders and waterskiiers use the river the most and are most aware of the problems that arise from the inadequate facilities at Jindalee, especially now a year has passes since that original story.

Local boarder Neil Bristow wrote a letter to local member Felicity Farmer explaining the situation of increased traffic without upgraded facilities. This letter was answered with
$40 000.00+ in funding to add some mooring jetties, upgrading the toilet block and add more bbqs.

The reply to this letter was a long time coming, and the action to follow even longer. Finally though the job will be done, we had a chat to some council and contractors who where down at the ramp this afternoon surveying, taking measurments and discussing the project. The ramp will be upgraded shortly over the winter months, the job will take less than a week and they estimate the ramp will be closed for 3 or 4 days during the week, with notices to be posted to make everyone aware.
