Jindalee Boat Ramp being upgraded !   -   18/November/04

previous articles 05/06/04 - 02/07/03

Here we go again getting the runaround from Felicity Farmer, Counciloor for Jamboree Ward.
This story just seems to be never-ending, I've lost count as to the number of articles and comments posted on this site, I think this shenanigans has been going on for well over 2 years now.
Now the latest is in and the upgrades will go through "following further funding allocation in a future Council Budget, hopefully next year's June budget". The previous letter we received stated funding had been allocated for the 04-05 budget now tha has been pushed back another year, what is going on ?!

The letter from Felicity Farmer
1 November 2004

Mr Neil Bristow
Jindalee Q 4074

Dear Mr Bristow,
I refer to the recent meeting that I convened on site to view the draft designs for the proposed upgrades at the Jindalee Boat Ramp. We agreed at the meeting that I would send out a copy of the draft design. I am now happy to enclose this for your reference.

As discussed at the meeting, you should note that this financial year the councili is aiming to:
- raise the height of the upstream wall slightly to protect the bank from water washing over the top; and,
- to place a sand soft landing against the wall. removing rocks and installing fenders to protect boats when mooring.

Following further funding allocation in a future Council Budget, hopefully next year's June budget, Council will:
- widen the ramp by about 2 metres; and,
- remove the existing plastic access ramp and replace it with a longer and more stable pontoon.

At the meeting I agree to take forward proposals for:
- signage advising not to moor on the pontoon;
- a strip of paving along the top of the wall for convenience.

I have also reported to the call centre on 3403 8888 that the light at the ramp needs to be fixed. Please feel welcome to contact me again if you would like to discuss these or any other local matters.

Yours sincerely
Felicity Farmer
Councillor for Jamboree
